During Pride Month, we partnered with Apleona and Colworth Park to create a pride flag comprised of cleaning supplies kindly supplied by our manufacturing partners to raise awareness and show our support for the rights of LGBTQ+ community.

Pride Month is celebrated in June as it marks the police raid that prompted the Stonewall riots. The raid took place on the 28th June 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. It was a very popular place for young gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people to gather. It was seen as a safe place for members of the LGBTQ+ community and so when employees were arrested for selling liquor without a licence and patrons were hurt by the police, the protests were born.

Since this event, the LGBTQ+ community annually commemorates the years of struggle and the ongoing pursuit of equal rights and opportunities.

The first official UK Gay Pride Rally was held on 1st July 1972 as this was the nearest Saturday to the anniversary of the Stonewall riots of 1969. That means that 2022marks the 50-year anniversary of the Pride Movement in the UK.
